Art Robinson Running for ORP Chair

Allen Alley has announced that he will not run for re-election as chair of the Oregon Republican Party. We appreciate all that Allen has done for our party and wish him well in whatever he decides to pursue next.

Our own Art Robinson, from here in Josephine County, has decided to run for the postion as chair of the ORP. Art ran a good race against U.S. Congressman Peter DeFazio in this last election, but was unable to carry the liberal counties that are so firmly devoted to big government. But he won big here in Jospehine County, and we hope and expect that he will win big across the state of Oregon running for chair of our state Republican Party.

Please give your full support to Art Robinson for Oregon Republican Party chair!

Meet ORP Chairman Allen Alley, 10/24

Oregon Republican Party Chairman Allen Alley will be in Grants Pass on Wednesday, October 24!

You can meet him at Elmer’s Restaurant, 175 Agness Ave, at noon for a no-host luncheon, and/or at the Republican Campaign Headquarters, 326 SW 6th St, at 2:00 PM.

Allen is a real visionary, and he’ll be happy to answer your questions about the future of the Republican Party in Oregon and about our Get Out The Vote campaign.

This is a critical election year, and Allen is travelling around the state making sure we all have the motivation and information we need to elect Republicans in our local, state, and national races!

Allen Alley Elected Chair of Oregon GOP

Congratulations to Allen Alley, our newly elected Chairman of the Oregon Republican Party! Allen Alley will be a great chair, and we all wish him well and are thankful to have him serving in that position.

In his acceptance speech, Allen Alley said “The solutions for Oregon’s economy must include utilizing our rural assets of forests, fisheries, farms, energy resources and ranches as well as our technology and manufacturing base. A “Westside only” solution is not the answer and it is not sustainable. All Oregonians deserve a chance to take a shot and to make a better life for their families.” Outgoing Chairman Bob Tiernan said “Allen’s leadership style has done much to unify the Party. I can’t remember when a candidate has attracted such broad support, especially in an open seat election.”

Other newly elected officers of the Oregon Republican Party are Vice Chairman Tim Smith, a rancher and geologist from Harney County, and Treasurer Rob Kremer, a principal in Third Century Solutions, the Lake Oswego public affairs firm that created the Oregon Transformation Project, which is taking a look at Oregon’s budget problem from a new perspective. Allen Alley and Representative Dennis Richardson are the co-chairs of the Transformation Project. Darlien France was re-elected to serve a second term as ORP Secretary.

We heartily congratulate each of them, and look forward to a vital and energetic Oregon Republican Party as we head toward the 2012 election!

Oregon GOP Response to State of the Union Address

Portland, Ore. – Oregon Republican Chairman Bob Tiernan released the following statement in response to President Barack Obama’s First State of the Union Address:

“After his agenda took a stunning defeat in Massachusetts, President Barack Obama claims he finally gets the message and has opted to join the American people in their anger. What he fails to understand is that the frustration stems directly from the leftward agenda he has tried to push through Congress despite the overwhelming protests of voters. They’re furious because the Obama Administration promised that his so-called $787 billion economic stimulus experiment would keep employment under eight percent, but today the national unemployment rate is ten percent and Oregon has lost over 59,000 jobs since Obama took office. They’re irate because rather than focusing on getting America back to work, his Administration has consistently tried to use the economic crisis as a means to pass his expensive liberal agenda of cap-and-trade, government-run health care, and unsustainable budgets.

“It is clear that the President and his Democratic allies are playing politics, hoping that voters will have forgotten the billions of dollars that have been spent over the past year without any form of accountability. But personality is not enough to convince voters when the policies coming from this White House are so obviously flawed. But we have already seen that President Obama has no coattails in Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts; three states that the President won in the fall of 2008. If Democrats like Reps. David Wu, Kurt Schrader, and Peter DeFazio continue to embrace his big-government agenda then they will soon find themselves into a forced retirement.”
