First Campaign Meeting of 2012

Attention PCPs (and all Republicans interested in achieving victory in November):

We all know how critical it is this year to keep the House and take the Senate and fire Obama, not to mention electing fiscal conservatives at the local and state levels!

The Josephine County Republican Party will be holding our first campaign meeting of the 2012 election season at 10:00 AM on August 11 at our 2012 Campaign Headquarters. Campaign HQ is located at 326 SW 6th St in Grants Pass (between I St and J St on the West side of 6th).

We’ll be discussing volunteer opportunities, and how you can help achieve victory for Republicans this year. There are all kinds of things to do, and we’ll work hard to make sure you’re doing something that matches up with your talents, skills, and/or interests. Just because this is serious business doesn’t mean it can’t be fun!

Our other order of business at this meeting will be to work out a recommendation from the Josephine County Republican Party to the Board of County Commissioners on how they should spend (and/or save) the final Secure Rural Schools payment of $4.65 million. The commissioners have asked for input from the public, and the Republican Party represents a large proportion of the public in Josephine County.

So please plan to be with us on August 11 for this important kick-off meeting for the 2012 campaign, and to help us draft a recommendation to the BCC on the final federal payment to the county.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Let’s win this year!

RCC supports Bob Just for County Commissioner #3

At the July 17 RCC meeting, the Josephine County Republican Central Committee voted to change the bylaws to allow the RCC to support a candidate in a non-partisan race in which no Repubican is running.

The RCC then voted to support Bob Just for County Commissioner position #3. Although not a registered Republican, Bob Just is a strong conservative who shares the principles and values of the Republican party.

This is a historic decision for the Josephine County Republican party. Some members felt it would hurt the Republican brand to support a non-Republican, but the majority felt that the Republican brand is more about principles than about partisanship, and that it’s important to support the more conservative candidate rather than sit passively on the sidelines because there’s no Republican in the race.

The Josephine County Republican party supports Republican Keith Heck for County Commissioner position #2, and Bob Just for County Commissioner position #3.

Breakfast with Allen Alley

Oregon State Republican Party Chair Allen Alley will be joining us for breakfast this Sunday, August 28, from 8:00-10:00 AM at the Taprock NW Grill.

He’ll be discussing how we can get ready to WIN in 2012! This will be a great opportunity to meet your state party chair, share your ideas with him, and learn what you can do to help make the 2012 election year a turning point in the history of our state and our country.

Allen is a great speaker, and a real down to earth person. He’ll be happy to answer your questions and share the insights he learned while walking all over the state in 2010 during his gubernatorial campaign. This is a breakfast you won’t soon forget!

RCC Organizational Meeting, July 19

The Josephine County Republican Central Committee will have an Organization Meeting on Tuesday, July 19. At this meeting, we’ll be electing our four “bonus” delegates to the Oregon state Republican Convention, as well as four alternate delegates. The convention will be held on September 8-9 in Bend. The Republican Central Committee is made up of all the PCPs!(Precinct Committee Persons) in Josephine County.

The state Republican Convention is where your elected delegates will be forumulating the state Republican Party platform for the 2012 campaign. It’s critical that we have a strong platform in the 2012 elections, and that our platform accurately reflects the principles, values, and positions that we as Republicans believe in. The way to ensure this is to elect delegates who believe as you do, and who will advocate strongly and articulately for those positions.

If you’re interested in being a delegate, ask a fellow PCP to nomninate you at the Organizational Meeting, or use the Contact form on this site to let us know you’d like to be nominated. If you’re not currently a PCP, but are interested in becoming one, please call Bill Ertel, 218-6538, or use the Contact form.

Call Center Volunteers Needed

Voter turnout is unaccountably low in this critical election. County Clerk, Art Harvey, reported earlier this week that only 23% of ballots had been returned. When turnout is low, Democrats win. They have a very effective machine for turning out the vote among unions, and particularly public sector unions. We need to get a strong Republican turnout to counter their built-in advantage.

We need your help! If you can spare a couple of hours on Sunday afternoon or Monday evening, please volunteer to help in our call center. We have data from the County Clerk’s office on which voters have already turned in their ballots, so you’ll only be calling those who have not yet voted.

You can make a huge difference by helping to get out the Republican vote! To volunteer, please call Bill Ertel at 218-6538, or e-mail him at BillErtel@aol.com.

Have Breakfast or Lunch with Chris Dudley

Chris Dudley will be in Southern Oregon on Friday, October 29, and you can join him for breakfast at the Jacksonville Inn or lunch at Kaleidoscope Pizza.

Breakfast will be from 8:30-10:00 AM (please arrive by 8:00), and will be a continental breakfast buffet. The cost is $7.25 per person (including gratuity). Reservations are required by noon on Thursday, October 28. Please call the Jackson County Chris Dudley headquarters, at 890-7119 or 890-5711, to make your reservation.

Lunch will be at Kaleidoscope Pizza, where you can order from the regular menu. Reservations will not be taken for lunch, but seating is limited, so please arrive between 11:15 and 11:30.

This will be your last opportunity to meet with Chris Dudley before he’s elected Governor! So come eat, have fun, and show your support for our next Governor!
